The first day of the match saw another draw followed by host and mexico draw as both the teams couldn't score a goal in the whole match. It was a third consecutive goalless match for france in the opening match of World cups.

Having a good strength in the likes ribery, anelka,evra and Henry all are big players but none of them could play their best as all have missed chances through out the match and couldn't convert chances into the goals.
